Lt. Andrews reported 27 speeding tickets issued 13 going to residents – 16 parking citations issued. He also reported that the left turn lane heading west onto Bay Esplanade would be opening during the week of January 9th. Lt. Andrews will be attending the weekly construction meetings for Beachwalk as construction will begin on Coronado. He will be using police aides at 5th and Coronado and also at Devon and Coronado. Once again he reminded us to report any beach access closings or blockage to his e-mail (wayne.andrews@myclearwater.com) Lt Andrews also reported that the Missouri Ave. Project will begin in the spring of 2006.

The Directors for 2006 were named at the December Meeting.

It was discussed that the by-laws state that the Board must elect the President and Vice President at the January Meeting. Jay Keyes was nominated by Rosemarie for President and it was seconded by Allie, the vote was unanimous. Jerry Murphy was nominated for Vice President by Ann and it was seconded by David, the vote was also unanimous.

Q-Fest report by Jerry Murphy – January 7, 2006 at Bright House Field - response was lower than anticipated so we will take a smaller suite but keep the cost to $25. Per member with the association paying the other half.

Beautification – Jerry will write a thank you note to the ladies that planted the lovely Poinsettias at Acacia Circle. Thanks to Lois Davis, Suzanne MacNamee, Pat Murphy and Debbie Curtis. We will also ask Pat Murphy if she will head this committee in 2006.

Short Term Rentals – Ray stated there was some confusion as to the date for the Hearing. January 17 or 18 – he will clarify this and report to Jerry who will e-mail all with the correct date, time and place.

Government Affairs – Jay stated that on Tuesday, January 17th at 1-p.m. and on Thursday, January 19th at 6-p.m. the City Commission will meet to discuss Crystal Beach and Beach Walk.

Dave MacNamee would like a reminder e-mail sent to us a few days prior to each meeting reminding us of the date and the 6-p.m. start time. Lisa Cowley and others would prefer a phone call. We will try to do both.

Membership – Jerry will work closely with Dave Ramos we will possibly do a Direct Mail Approach to former members. The target date is mid-January with a letter/card reminder to renew membership. Also a walk around door knocking will be organized.

Roster was re-discussed – we need to send out a paper copy along with the website listings.

Jay Keyes announced that a free workshop on Grant writing will be presented at the Municipal Building on Myrtle Street on 1/7/2006. Lois Davis volunteered to attend.

Jerry opened a discussion concerning the new height variance for the Old Florida region and the transition to the residential district. As a “Group” we are for “reasonable limits”. We feel “flexible standards” is too broad a statement. Ray made a motion that we would write a letter reminding them that the CBA is in favor of a transitional height between Old Florida and the residential area. It was seconded by Ron Delp and it was decided that Anne Garris would write the letter.

Jay Keyes Stated that the Clearwater Beach Association and the Clearwater Beach Chamber will grant memberships to each other and the papers were given to the secretary to add to her files.

The Beautification Committee will investigate the area at the old bridge entrance to see if there is anything we can add to this area which is not intended for parking and will be sod only.

Planning and Development East Shore- Ray Massieu to investigate what is developing there or could be developed there in the future. Sommerset – Northside, Multi-story building against a residential area. The CDB is scheduled to discuss this on January 17th at 1-p.m., the staff is against this and it was suggested that we take a position against this also and attend the meeting.

Dave MacNamee wants to resurrect the Newsletter even every 2 months to keep members informed as to what is happening. We will send it to new and old members at first encouraging them to rejoin to continue getting these updates.

Christmas Caroling was successful even with the cold and windy weather. Approx 50 people attended. Next year we will begin planning a little earlier.

Dave Ramos to check into price and times available for next years Christmas Party.

Meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully,
Kim Porte
