Meeting Minutes for 7/11/2006: A special summer meeting was held to discuss the golf tournament and other important business. Board members present were: Jay Keyes, Jerry Murphy, Rosemarie Bonnington, Ron Delp, Dave Ramos, Bette Failor, Ray Massieu, Lisa Cowley, Candy Zimmerman and Kim Porte. CBA members in attendance: Sandy Britton and Mr. Bonnington. Board Members not present: Lois Davis, David MacNamee, Mara Basic, Anne Garris and Ellie Holmes. The meeting was called to order. The June minutes were approved. The treasure’s report was submitted and approved by the board. There was a discussion on short term rentals. Plans to re-meet with Jeff Kronschnabl to discuss the status of our previous letter which detailed complaints of repeat offenders and advertiser of new short term rentals on the web. Jerry, Dave R. and Ron will meet with him next week to see if anything has been done. Congratulations and a round of applause was given to Rosemarie Bonnington. She recently won Citizen of the Year honors from the Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce . Residential – We discussed the construction debris at a private residence on Bay Esplanade. Several people have complained to the city over the last few weeks. Rosemarie received a call from Kronschnabl’s assistant assuring her that it would be removed by the property owner shortly. Membership – It was decided that a simple roster would be put out with the 80+ members that we have rather than wait for the goal of 100. New Business Golf Tournament – A recap of the first meeting between our board and the Sand Key group for those members not present discussed the following: White shirts will be purchased for less than $9.00 each with the price including four embroidered logos of our sponsors. (chest, below collar and each sleeve) Jay ran through a list of sponsors that have committed to us. Walker Ford will provide a car for the hole in one and Budweiser will be supplying the beer. Hooters will also plan to do something substantial, possibly supplying wings and girls to serve at 2 of the holes. In total we will need 72 hole sponsors at $100 per sign and 36 foursomes to golf and enjoy the day and evening events. This event will allow the Sailing Center to continue to help teach the blind and disabled to sail. The center also teaches children how to sail and never turns away a child that cannot afford to pay for lessons. If the center can reach their goal of $30, 000.00 a private donor has agreed to match that amount which means the center could do so much more than it already does! They would also like to start a racing team out of Clearwater High School for underprivileged kid. Beach Development - Anne Garris notifies us via E-mail of future meetings we may want to attend regarding development of the Marina district which encompasses the area between Mandalay Avenue and the Bay from Memorial Causeway north to Baymont Street. The city plans to put a moratorium on development of this area to attempt to slow down and bring some sense of a plan to the table. The board voted with a majority agreeing that this was a good idea as long as the delay was not too long. July 18, 2006 - 1:00 p.m. – Community Development Board Meeting July 20, 2006 - 6:00 p.m. - Council Meeting – 1st Reading Aug. 03, 2006 – 6:00 p.m. - Council Meeting – 2nd Reading The board agreed to spread the word and try to attend these meetings in support of what we feel is a positive move by the city. Before closing it was decided that no meeting was necessary in August as those who wished to keep updated on the golf tournament could attend the Friday evening meetings in Sand Key. The next meeting of our board will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the recreation center on Bay Esplanade at 6:00 p.m. Meeting was adjourned at around 7:20 p.m.
