Meeting Minutes for 6/6/2006:

Board members present were: Jay Keyes, Jerry Murphy, David Ramos, Candy Zimmerman, Ray Massieu, Lisa Cowley, Kim Porte, Dave MacNamee, and Ron Delp. Residents in attendance were John Doran, Allen Avery, and Sandy Britton. Richard Gonzales, a guest, was also present.

A presentation was made by Clearwater Public Utility representatives, Jerry Wells and Todd Petrie. They are attending the homeowners meetings in Clearwater neighborhoods currently equipped with reclaimed water. They thoroughly explained the new metered rates and helped us to understand that reclaimed water will still be cheaper than fresh water. The city has been subsidizing this program and the new billing system for actual usage rather than flat fee payments will help to fund future expansion and may also promote conservation.

We next heard from Lt. Andrews. He reported 31 speeding tickets – 17 going to residents. Fourteen parking tickets were also issued in the residential areas. Some discussion was giving to cars being parked in driveways blocking sidewalks.

The meeting was called to order and the May minutes were approved.

Dave Ramos gave the treasurers report – stating the Triangle Expenses at $1462 for the CBA portion and $2500 for the City contribution for a total expense of $3962.

The June 20th, Thrashers ballgame was discussed. The tickets will cost $17 per person and will cover admission and dinner and drinks in our air-conditioned suite. The Jolly trolley will transport any who wish from the recreation center to and from the game. They will be giving CBA a 50% discount from their usual rate. Jerry Murphy will be handling ticket sales.

We were advised of the possibility of a second mediation meeting being set within the next 30 days. Jerry read a letter that he had written and plans to present to each council member and the city attorney on behalf of CBA board. We approved the letter and it will be signed and written on CBA letterhead. The letters will be hand delivered when our representatives visit council members in their offices next week.

Bravo to Jay on last months article in the Beach Gazette. Look for an article on events and issues important to us each month.

Jerry spoke to us on behalf of Pat and Suzanne – the circle is an on going project but really looks great! Pat is nursing a Jacaranda tree with hopes of placing it at the Narcissus triangle when it is healthy enough to stand on its own.

Ray updated us on the Neighborhood watch program. Kenny King has agreed to head this endeavor. Ray also updated us on the recent Hurricane preparedness meetings held at the library. He said they were well attended with185 people and very informative. Jay also told of a county program for emergency alerts via text messaging. One example of how this would be useful would be in a situation where we were to evacuate and needed updates on when to return. To sign up for this service and more information call 1-888-689-8905.

Membership is still just trickling in at only 74 members and so no roster has been printed.

All business was covered and the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully,
Kim Porte
