Meeting Minutes for 4/4/2006:

Clearwater Beach Association Minutes, Tuesday, April 4, 2006.

Board Members Attending: Jay Keyes, David Ramos, Bette Failor, Ron Delp, Rosemarie Bonnington, Ellie Holmes, Lisa Cowley, Candy Zimmerman, Ray Massieu, David MacNamee, Jerry Murphy, Mara Basic, Lois Davis.

Board Members Absent: Anne Garris, Kim Porte

Members attending were Ron and Marie Dube, Ross Concklin, Doug Bonnington, Kenny King, Council Members John Doran and Bill Jonson.

Paul Bertels was given a round of applause for making the needed changes at the intersection of Mandalay and Bay Esplanade as promised before our meeting in April! Lane striping has alleviated confusion at the intersection for north bound and left turning vehicles. Recommendations have been made to change a few things for exiting the beach over the new bridge, mainly at Court and Chestnut Streets. A possibility of eliminating one crosswalk at Osceola may be in the works for next spring break. Storm sewer line pipes have been staged at Kipling and Bruce.

Lt. Wayne Andrews proclaimed operations normal now that the bulk of spring breakers are gone, however, we’ll have busy weekends ahead, Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, etc. North and South Bohenia are now in the police computer system (used to be when you called in an infraction the police department didn’t know where you meant). FYI, if you call into the Police Department to complain about a parking or noise issue, you can ask to remain anonymous.

Minutes and Treasurer’s Report approved.

Lisa Cowley stated that approximately 125 people attended the Neighborhood Picnic on Saturday, April 1. The fire and police departments attended and everyone had a good time and great food!

Discussion held regarding short-term rental frustrations. The judge assigned to the case (city vs. investors) has ordered mediation. John Doran and Bill Jonson listened to members’ concerns and answered what questions they could. Another meeting with the Mayor will be held this Friday, April 7, as he was unable to attend the March meeting in his office.

The Code Enforcement Board Meeting is held on the 4th Wednesday at 3:00 at City Hall.

Brian Murphee’s assistant met with Pat Murphy last week to discuss planting for the Acacia Circle.

The Beach Association voted to fund the annual Easter Egg Hunt April 14th, 6:00 p.m., at Mandalay Park. The fee to fund is $250.00

It was announced that there will be no Sunset Beach Fest this year.

Membership stands at 66, and Jerry and David are working on a list to work from when we knock on doors for new members. A roster will be published and membership cards will be issued once we reach 100 members.

Ray Massieu attended the Coalition Meeting and reported a few dates:
