Meeting Minutes for 1/3/2012: Board Members Present: Patrick Gallagher, Jerry Murphy, Jay Keyes, Pat Power, Ross Concklin, Ron Delp, Wendy Hutkin, Sam Hutkin, Lanny Jackson. Lillian Johnson Board Members Absent: Anne Garris Guests: : Officer Williams – CW Police department, CBA members: Jodi Bratch, Bill Johnson Quorum was determined and the meeting was called to order at about 6:00 p.m. Officer Williams of the Clearwater Police Department was present to give an update on local police activity. He happily reported no new crime trends and a relatively calm New Year’s Eve, with everything under control even at local night spots. He felt that the recent cold snap was a contributing factor to the dearth of adverse incidents, and perhaps the biggest thing for this month was that somebody was caught stealing DVD’s from the Library. Minutes - None The Treasurer’s Report was distributed by Bill Johnson. A motion was made and seconded to accept the report as written; the motion passed. Our P.O. Box will remain the same and be relocated to downtown Clearwater when the beach facility closes. EVENTS - Christmas caroling. Ron Delp reported that 55-60 people attended the annual Christmas Caroling event co- sponsored by the CBA and the Chapel by the Sea on December 22, where members of the beautiful and talented Lindblom family again led the singing at Mandalay Park. A motion was approved to give them a complimentary CBA membership as a thank-you. Executive Committee – President Wendy Hutkin charged this committee to explore new visioning and develop a mission statement. Calendar for 2012. Wendy presented a calendar with identified 2012 events and encouraged board members to sign up for the committees. GOVERNMENT – candidate’s forum. Questions were developed for the forum. The City’s variable message board will be placed at the roundabout to notify residents. ENVIRONMENT – No report. MEMBERSHIP – Jerry reported that we have 28 members. Applications will be available at the Candidates’ Forum. The goal of 200 members was floated followed by some discussion. A motion was made and approved to suspend the section of the by-laws that lays out the composition of the Board of Directors. The section will be suspended for one year to evaluate a smaller Board of 12 directors. FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY – no report. SHORT TERM RENTAL – no update.. COALITION – no report, The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:25 p.m. The CBA meets the first Tuesday of each month … the next meeting is on February 7; 2012 starting at 6 PM at the Beach Recreation Center.
