2010 Events

February 10 Candidates Form:   The CBA sponsors a candidates forum for the 2010 Clearwater Council elections.  The forum takes place on February 10, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center ... located at 69 Bay Esplanade.

On Tuesday, March 9, 2010 Clearwater registered voters will elect members to the Clearwater City Council.  Seat 4 candidates are Wayne Carothers, Bill Jonson, Joe Paige and Herb Quintero.  Seat 5 candidates are Paul Gibson, current seat holder, and Mike Riordon.

Jay Keyes will moderate the event and pose questions relative to issues and concerns of Clearwater Beach neighborhoods and businesses.  Residents are encouraged to come on out and participate.  Questions will also be taken from the audience.

Had somewhere between 75-80 folks turn out ... almost as many as actually voted.

March 7 baseball game:  The Tampa Bay Rays take on the Phillies at 1:05 PM.  CBA members and friends will be watching the game in Suite 206 at Bright House Field.  Thanks to David Ramos and Jerry Murphy for making it happen ... and arranging transportation via the Jolley Trolley.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Two of four Navy Seals that dropped in to watch the old ball game.  The Rays took the Phillies 5 to 3 in ten innings.

March 27 Treasures Sale:  This will be a fund raiser lead by Pat Power with plenty of help from CBA members and "Friends...".  Neighbors are being asked to donate items for the sale.  The proceeds will go to the CBA and the Friends of the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center/Library.  The fund raiser will be held at the Triangle Park ... 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM.  Every one is welcome to come out and get involved.
      
The crew is getting ready ... if only some customers would show up..

      
At last .. someone to buy stuff.  Very sucessful event, netted a little better than $1400 ... and donated a car load of books to "Friends ..." with the main library. and donated a bunch of stuff to a few thrift shops.


 

April 2 Easter Egg Hunt: The egg hunt will be held at Mandalay Park.  The egg hunt is a joint CBA and Beach Recreation Center activity.  While the focus is on the little folks, teenagers and adults will have a chance to participate and hunt for a few eggs.   The egg hunt is on April 2, 2010 ... starting at 6:00 PM

Very successful event ... about 200 folks of all ages turned out and most took home an egg .


Looks like more than one egg here ... oh, Mom helped!

 

April 17 Neighborhood Picnic:  The neighborhood picnic will be held at Triangle Park ... 3:00 - 6:00 PM.  CBA will provide hot dogs, hamburgers, and beverages.  Contributions of salads, deserts, etc are welcome and appreciated.  This picnic is for the neighborhood ... and all are invited.

Good turnout from the neighborhood and city ... a few firefighters with equipment, Mayor Hibbard and several staff members from the city, and the police department's Lt. Young.  About 106 folks from the neighborhood shared hot dogs and discussions ... Pat forgot the beer.

   

    
 

October 22, 23, 24 Family Fun Fest fund raiser:

 

Tampa Bay Harvest, CBA, and the City of Clearwater are working together to put on the second annual Family Fun Fest fund raiser ... that's a mouth full.  The three day event will feature: arts, crafts, entertainment, food and beverages with a focus on the family.

2009 Events

April 10th Easter Egg Hunt at Mandalay Park:  The event started at 6:00 PM and was  enjoyed by all ages. The Egg Hunt is a joint effort between the CBA and the Beach Recreation Center.  Here we have the Recreation Center team that carried out the event and made sure all children left with some goodies in their pockets  ... maybe in their mom's pocket.  This group shot to the right shows some of the estimated 140 children along with their parents that left with a positive experience.

 

And the two years olds are off and running...with some help from their parents.

 

Then the adults joined in ...Along with Mrs. Clearwater Beach

 

 

Family Fun Fest Fund Raiser   2010 plans are underway to have a arts/crafts/food/refreshments event on October 22, 23 and 24.  The CBA, Tampa Bay Harvest and the City of Clearwater are jointly planning the fund raiser.  The  event will take place on Beachwalk. 



 

 

 

 

 

 

The planning team meets on Tuesday at Chapel by the Sea ... 4:00 - 6:00 PM.  So, if you want to pitch in and help make the event happen then come on out and start participating in the meetings. Click here for more  information.

Annual meeting ... Plans for the annual meeting are underway.  Their will be a social gathering at the Beach Recreation Center starting at 4:30 PM ... finger food and refreshments will be provided while members can also bring a dish to share.   The business portion of the meeting will begin around 5:30 PM or as the refreshments run low.  The main business item is the election of the 2010 board member class. 

Members and prospective members are welcome to come on out  and share in the event 

 

Christmas Caroling at Mandalay Park...  Christmas Caroling will take place at the Mandalay Park on Tuesday December 22, 2009 ... set up will start at 6:00 PM ... and caroling will start around 7:00 PM.   All are invited to come on out, have a some hot chocolate and join in the Christmas Caroling. 

The caroling will be lead by the very talented Limbolm family.

2007 Golf Tournament 

2nd annual golf outing at East Lake Country Club ... sponsored by the CBA and the Clearwater Community Sailing Center.    The 2nd annual tournament was played on October 29, 2007 at Eastlake Woodlands Country Club. 

The Tournament was supported by 88 players, 20 plus volunteers and 63 sponsors... with Jay Keyes and Joe Calio providing the leadership.  It was another very successful tournament ...

 

CBA's share of the proceeds will be use to support Tampa Bay Harvest and their effort in gathering and moving food to RCS for its distribution to those in need.
